Tropical Storm Colin is moving away from Florida and racing quickly over the Atlantic Ocean. It will move parallel to the coast of the southeastern United States today producing gusty winds and bands of heavy rain over the outer banks of North Carolina. It is expected to lose tropical characteristics by tonight.

However, Colin is leaving trailing moisture over the Florida peninsula. This means a good rain chance will be in the forecast through the remainder of the week.

Look for these potential hazards: heavy rain leading to street flooding within the strongest showers and storms, gusty winds to 50 mph possible, rough surf and beach erosion along the Gulf coast with minor tidal flooding near high tide this afternoon. A high rip current risk will continue on both the Gulf and Atlantic coast through the weekend.

Have a wonderful day South Florida and make it a safe one!
