Tropical Depression #3 has formed over the southern Gulf of Mexico. Located 450 miles to the SW of Tampa, this storm is heading north at 8 mph towards the northern portion of the Sunshine State.
A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for the Gulf coast of Florida from Indian Pass to Englewood.
NHC is suggesting the center of this storm will approach the coast of the Florida Big Bend area Monday afternoon. Tropical storm conditions are expected to first reach the west coast within the warning area by Monday afternoon.
Rainfall: 3″ to 5″ with isolated maximum totals of 8″ possible across the northeastern Yucatan peninsula, western Cuba, and Florida.
Storm surge: 1 to 3 ft. from Indian Pass to Tampa Bay and 1 to 2 ft. from Tampa Bay south to Florida Bay.
While South Florida is not in the direct path of this storm, we will be on alert for strong to severe storms leading to isolated tornadoes, gusty winds and heavy rainfall leading to flood concerns for most of the week.
There will be the potential for rainfall accumulations of 2″ to 6″ through the week as a lingering front stalls over Central Florida. This will keep deep tropical moisture in place as we stay unsettled into next weekend.
