Happy Wednesday, South Florida!
Hopefully everyone was able to thaw out on Tuesday afternoon when the sun finally made its appearance over South Florida again. While the warming trend is underway, temperatures this morning were still on the cool side. Luckily for us, they weren’t as cold as we had been waking up to since Christmas Eve. However, a light jacket was needed for some earlier this morning. Instead of the 40s (and barely 50s) we have been seeing, South Florida finally woke up to the upper 50s and low 60s. And if that wasn’t good enough, those cloudy skies we have been dealing with are a thing of the past!
After quite a few, cool, cloudy and wet days here in South Florida, today we can expect a mix of sun and clouds to return to the forecast. And with just a little more in the way of sunshine, our afternoon high temperatures will once again warm into the mid 70s. With a northerly wind component still in place, we will continue to see nice conditions and comfortable humidity levels. Needless to say, other than a stray sprinkle. rain will not be an issue for South Florida today.
Looking ahead, changes are finally beginning to take shape. Drier air will stick around through mid-week and the warm up continues for the rest of the work week. As winds veer off the water, the air mass will moderate with the return of ocean air. Then the final days of 2022 promise to bring warmer temperatures in the low to mid 80s, low rain chances, a touch more humidity and breezy conditions. And it looks like the start of new year will end the way South Florida is used to being: warm and humid. At least rain won’t be an issue as we ring in the new year!
As mentioned above, New Year’s Eve in South Florida should be a quiet one. Here’s a closer look at what we can expect heading into the final days of 2022 and the start of 2023. Opposite of what we have been seeing, a Southerly wind will be in place and that’s going to allow our temperatures on New Year’s Eve to reach the low 80s in the afternoon. So as we ring in the new year, Our evening temperatures will likely be in the 70s with a warm breeze out of the South and a bit more in the way of humidity. The first day of 2023 looks like it could be a little warmer with afternoon high temperatures reaching into the mid 80s. The good news is that the New Years holiday does look mainly dry for South Florida.
Have a wonderful day!
