Hopefully you enjoy this weekend’s weather because rain chances ramp up by the second half of our new week. After a beautiful Saturday with most areas enjoying hot and dry conditions, there will be a better chance for some rain today.

On Sunday, expect a stray morning shower, otherwise a good deal of sunshine. Now the southeast breeze will be lighter today, so this will allow for a few thunderstorms to develop near the western metro midday today, with a few showers and storms lingering nearby throughout the afternoon. Therefore, rain chances will be greatest inland and lower at the coast, making for a great day to head to the beach! The heat will also stick around with highs once again into the low to mid 90s, which could break records at some locations.

On Monday, it should be rather similar as today with the chance for a morning shower then afternoon inland storms. Temperatures will hold steady, peaking into the low to mid 90s at most locations.

Now on Tuesday, a little more moisture starts to sneak in along with a lighter breeze, so I think there will be a better chance for afternoon storms — generally inland once again. It’s not until Wednesday through at least Friday when rain chances peak at 60% (perhaps 70%). This is when scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected across South Florida courtesy of plentiful moisture getting trapped across region as a front stalls across central Florida. It’s too early to know how all this rain will time out, but we will have a better understanding for you later this week.

In the tropics, Hurricane Earl became a post-tropical storm Saturday afternoon, so now we’re left with just one area to watch. It’s a tropical wave that will move off the coast of Africa tomorrow and has a low, 30% chance of developing within the next 5 days, according to the National Hurricane Center.
