Happy Sunday, South Florida!
What a soggy start to the weekend! The rain continued on and off with tropical downpours across all of South Florida and heavy rain especially down in the keys. By noon yesterday, some areas down in the Keys had already received 11 inches of rain and the rain did not stop there! But the good news is that as we head into the latter part of the weekend South Florida will begin to see somewhat of an improvement. After all, it couldn’t really get any worse than yesterday?
Still cloudy in South Florida today but definitely 'brighter' than yesterday! @wsvn pic.twitter.com/VOYQJhO62L

So let’s talk about today. The forecast should not l be as wet as what we saw yesterday now that T.D. 19 (now tropical storm Sally) is moving away from our general area. However, do not put your rain gear away just yet because we are *still* expecting some rain and possibly even a few thunderstorms in the forecast today. The difference between yesterday and today is that today our shower and thunderstorm activity will be a bit more scattered in nature as compared to Saturday. We are also not expecting AS heavy rain today as we saw throughout the day on Saturday. So if you have any outdoor plans, be sure to have that rain gear with you just in case. Or if you want to play it safe, just move your plans to indoors once again.
Lingering clouds AND hit or miss showers through much of the day today. The Sun *may* try to peek out through the clouds at some point this afternoon. #miami #FLL #FLoridakeys #keywest @wsvn pic.twitter.com/YPIW8UDogM

Tropical Storm Sally will continue to move farther away from us, taking it’s tropical moisture with it The weather pattern here for us should slowly begin to transition to a more typical one with some slightly dryer air trying to filter in through the upcoming work week. That means that through the work week south Florida will begin to see increasing sunshine, fewer showers and naturally, our temperatures will warm back into the lower 90s once again.
Moisture associated with Tropical Storm Sally will linger across our area today. As Sally and its moisture moves away from us for the start of the work week, 'drier' air over the Bahamas will inch closer to South Florida. #miami #FLL #FLoridakeys #keywest @wsvn pic.twitter.com/uPfVeNAqgi

Elsewhere in the tropics, we are watching five other systems between the Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico. We already had tropical storm Paulette and tropical depression Rene develop in the Atlantic but there are two other systems off of the West Coast of Africa that could develop in the next day or so. The disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico is showing little to no development in the next couple of days, possibly becoming a rainmaker for the gulf coast states. We will have to continue watching the tropics as we are now in the peak of hurricane season!
