Happy Hump Day South Florida!
Today will be another hot summer day with temperatures in the upper 80’s and low 90’s, and the heat index is expected to rise over 100 degrees. Constant hydration and frequent rest are requested for today, Thursday, and potentially Friday. A Bermuda High has settled over Southern Florida which is contributing to warm days and stifling afternoons. There is a southeasterly to easterly wind flow ranging from 5-15 mph across the area which will allow for some afternoon/evening showers and thunderstorms along the coast.
Our rain chances will increase to 50% over the weekend due to the high pressure system steering back into the Atlantic Ocean. This should allow deep moisture to return across our area, providing some slightly lower temperatures and higher rain chances. An area of rain and clouds is forecast to move toward the Greater Antilles with a surge of moisture pushing across Southern Florida next week, but it is too early to tell if this area will hold.
Tropical Update:
Currently, we are following an area of large cloudiness and disorganized shower activity along the Western Coast of Africa. The National Hurricane Center stating that the conditions may become favorable for development over the next couple of days, but they will continue to monitor this area through the next 5 days.
Make it a great day!
