South Florida is going to enjoy a week of dry air through next Wednesday. Ian will dissipate over the Carolinas this weekend as high pressure remains over the Southern Gulf coast states keeping South Florida in a nice Northwest wind flow. Best chance for a spotty/isolated shower will likely be Sunday, but not expecting much. Therefore, enjoy plenty of sunshine, lower humidity and a pleasant breeze.

The humidity and moisture levels slowly rise on Thursday with a chance of a few showers returning. Overall mild and dry days are ahead as overnight lows will fall into the low 70’s and highs in the upper 80’s.

Marine conditions are gradually improving across the area as Ian departs and wave heights will decrease to 3-5 feet into Saturday.

Ian is forecast to make landfall near Charleston, South Carolina early afternoon and life-threatening storm surge and damaging winds expected to arrive soon along the South Carolina coast. Storm surge values above abnormally dry ground could be higher if peak happens at the time of high tide. Edisto Beach to Little River Inlet could see a surge of 4-7 feet.

Flooding rains highly likely with Northeast South Carolina forecasted to receive 4 to 8 inches with isolated amount up to 12 inches. Central South Carolina, North Carolina and Southern Virginia looking at about 3 to 6 inches with isolated amount up to 8 inches.
