It’s now our south Florida rainy season (and we’re actually two weeks into it). As you’d expect, rain showers and storms can pop-up quickly and easily whether at night or during the daytime. As you continue with your holiday weekend plans, you’ll need to pay attention to changing weather conditions. Scattered downpours will continue through Memorial Day with some slow-moving activity… due to light wind speeds. By Tuesday and Wednesday, moisture levels should decrease slightly and limit the number of rain episodes. In the tropics, distant Bonnie is drifting toward South Carolina. The weak tropical storm will send heavy rain bands across the middle Atlantic coast and eastern seaboard over the next few days. The system is likely to weaken back to a depression by Monday (and gradually lose tropical characteristics). The rest of the tropical waters look fine as we approach the official start of the Atlantic Hurricane Season, on Wednesday June 1.
