MIAMI (AP) — The state attorney’s office in Miami is launching a $1 million campaign to combat prostitution and human trafficking during next year’s Super Bowl.
Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle plans a “rapid intervention response team” to confront human trafficking in the time leading up to the Super Bowl on Feb. 2, 2020.
The South Florida SunSentinel reports the task force will begin Friday and is led by the Super Bowl host committee, the state attorney’s office and The Women’s Fund, which is a social service agency for women.
She says state attorneys in nearby Broward and Palm Beach counties and area police forces will be involved, and they’ll also recruit hotels, restaurants and ride-share services.
A hotline will be activated to report incidents.
