SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) – The NBA’s Miami Heat has extended the team’s partnership with the NBA Development League’s Sioux Falls Skyforce through the 2016-17 season.

The Heat will continue to be the only NBA team affiliated with the Skyforce. The D-League team had aligned itself with several NBA teams until 2013, when it began the single-affiliation partnership with the then-defending NBA champions.

Heat President Pat Riley says in a statement that the Skyforce is "one of the most professional organizations" in the D-League, and the working relationship has been successful.

Skyforce Owner-President Mike Heineman says the team is happy to be affiliated with the "championship-level" NBA franchise.
