NEW YORK (AP) — The Mets have completed a deal with free agent Yoenis Cespedes (yoh-EHN’-ehs SEHS’-peh-dehs). The contract runs four-years and is worth $110 million. The deal’s $27.5 million average annual value ties former Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez for the second-highest among position players, trailing only Miguel Cabrera’s $29.2 million with Detroit.
Cespedes joined the Mets in a trade with Detroit in July of 2015. He tested free agency that off season but signed with the Mets. His contact allowed for him to try it again this off season.
Cespedes had 31 homers and 86 RBIs in 132 games this year.
