MIAMI (AP) – Alex McGough threw for 242 yards and a career-tying three touchdowns to lead Florida International to a 39-14 win over North Carolina Central on Saturday night.

McGough had 233 total yards by the half, passing for 153 and rushing for 78. He finished with 319 total yards.

Florida International (2-1) racked up 490 yards while limiting North Carolina Central (1-2) to 38 rushing and 171 passing yards. The Golden Panthers picked off three North Carolina Central passes.

Alex Gardner gained 81 yards on 20 carries and Anthony Jones had 60 yards on 10 carries for Florida International.

The Golden Panthers were up 26-14 at the half and stretched that to a 39-14 advantage in the third quarter.

Quinn Billerman led the Eagles, throwing for 149 yards.
