RUSTON, La. (AP) — Erik McCree had his 12th double-double of the season, Jacobi Boykins scored 17 points and Louisiana Tech cruised to a 77-61 win over Florida International on Saturday night.
Jalen Harris added 11 points while DaQuan Bracey scored eight with 10 assists and zero turnovers. The freshman came into the game No. 5 nationally in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.74).
Florida International (6-21, 2-12 Conference USA) scored 10 of the first 13 points before McCree made a layup and then a 3 to spark a 28-7 run that put Louisiana Tech up by 14 points with 2:41 left in the half. Donte McGill’s 3-pointer pulled the Panthers to 38-25 at the break, but McCree scored 12 points during a 19-8 spurt to start the second half and the Ragin’ Cajuns cruised from there.
McGill scored 20 points and Michael Kessens added 18 with nine rebounds for FIU.
Louisiana Tech (20-8, 12-3) has won at least 20 games in five consecutive seasons — the second longest such streak in school history — and has won six games in a row overall.
