POMPEU LOUREIRO, Brazil (WSVN) – A large mural was painted in Brazil, Monday, in honor of the late Miami Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez.

According to FOX Sports, Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton, closer A.J. Ramos, former Marlins/current Angels starter Ricky Nolasco were vacationing in Brazil when they assisted artist Tito na Rua in painting a mural for Fernandez. The mural reads: “Niño” with his jersey’s number “16” and a Cuban flag alongside it.

Fernandez and two friends were on a boat when they slammed into a jetty on Miami Beach. The pitcher was just 24 years old.

The investigation into the accident is still ongoing.
