GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — No. 15 Florida could be without leading tackler Jarrad Davis against Southeastern Conference rival Georgia in two weeks.

The Gators said Sunday that Davis has a “badly sprained ankle and there is no timetable for his return.” Davis injured his left ankle in the third quarter of Saturday’s 40-14 victory against Missouri and had to be helped to the locker room.

Coach Jim McElwain said after the game that X-rays revealed no broken bones.

Davis leads Florida with 48 tackles, including eight before getting hurt Saturday. He does have extra time to heal since the Gators (5-1, 3-1 SEC) have a bye week before playing the Bulldogs (4-3, 2-3) on Oct. 29 in nearby Jacksonville.
