TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Florida State baseball coach Mike Martin has agreed to a one-year extension that will take him through the 2018 season.

Martin just completed his 37th season as manager and is two wins shy of becoming the second baseball coach in NCAA Division I history to reach 1,900 career victories. He will also go into next season as the active wins leader in college baseball.

If Martin does manage two more years, he could pass Augie Garrido for most wins. Garrido, who stepped down at Texas on May 30, has 1,975.

The Seminoles have been to the College World Series 15 times with Martin in charge. They were 41-22 this past season and advanced to the super regional before losing in three games to Florida.
