SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) – Dolphins starting safety Luis Delmas has been carted off the field with an apparent right leg injury.

The injury occurred Wednesday during the first day of scrimmages against the Carolina Panthers at Wofford College.

Delmas tore his right ACL last December against the Baltimore Ravens. The extent of Wednesday’s injury was not immediately clear.

It came only moments after Panthers wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin was carted off the field with a leg injury.

The Dolphins’ fiery safety had made it back from the torn ACL in under nine months to regain his starting spot. Before the injury last season, Delmas had 63 tackles, one sack, one interception return for a touchdown and two fumble recoveries in 13 games.
