DAVIE, FLA. (WSVN) - The Miami Dolphins geared up for the first training camp of the off season, Friday, in front of fans.

The Dolphins endured the South Florida sun to begin their 51st training camp, Friday.

Optimism floated around the Miami Dolphins Training Facility, located on the main campus of Nova Southeastern University.

Quarterback Ryan Tannehill and the rest of the roster hopes this is the season they get over the hump.

New head coach Adam Gase, former Chicago Bears offensive coordinator, led the group through numerous drills that kicked off a new era for Dolphins football. “Exciting, you know, it’s an exciting time every year,” said Tannehill, “to come out and get better. There’s such high expectations like there are every year. To be able to come out and get better each and every day, especially in this new offense. It’s a fun time for everyone.”

Dolphins center Mike Pouncey enjoys the fun in camp. “It’s awesome,” said Pouncey. “The environment today — it’s unmatched. We came out and had a really good practice, ran around. Today was a successful day. It was everything that we hoped it was gonna be today. Everybody came out with the right mindset.”

Running back and new addition to Miami Arian Foster is on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. In addition, according to the Miami Herald’s Armando Salguero, cornerbacks Xavien Howard and Bobby McCain, along with running back Damien Williams and linebacker Zach Vigil are also on the PUP list.

Defensive end Dion Jordon was also formally reinstated by the NFL after running into trouble with the substance abuse policy.

The next training camp is scheduled for Saturday at 8:35 a.m.
