TALLAHASSEE – Last week, Commissioner of Education Manny Diaz, Jr., and Lottery Secretary John F. Davis continued the “Keep Florida’s Future Bright” Initiative at Amos P. Godby High School in Tallahassee. The initiative aims to inform students about the opportunities available through the Bright Futures Scholarship Program and boost student participation. Students were given information on the eligibility requirements, scholarship tiers, and various postsecondary programs to which the Florida Bright Futures Scholarships can be applied.
“Education is the key to unlocking opportunity, and every student in Florida should know that their future is limitless,” said John F. Davis, Secretary of the Florida Lottery. “Through the “Keep Florida’s Future Bright” initiative, we’re making sure students understand that a brighter future – whether in college or a technical career – is within their reach.”
“I am dedicated to ensuring every student is aware of the amazing opportunities available to them through the Bright Futures Scholarship Program,” said Commissioner of Education Manny Diaz, Jr. “Whether a student is seeking a four-year degree or a technical workforce certificate, I encourage students to start working towards the requirements for Bright Futures early and take advantage of these opportunities to access higher education.”
The Florida Bright Futures Program was established in 1997 and is fully funded by the Florida Lottery to reward Florida’s brightest high school students for their academic achievements. Since its introduction, the Florida Bright Futures Program has granted over one million scholarship awards.
The Florida Bright Futures Program offers four scholarships: the Florida Academic Scholarship, the Florida Medallion Scholarship, the Florida Gold Seal CAPE Scholarship, and the Florida Gold Seal Vocational Scholarship. Current seniors and students seeking state financial aid for the 2025-26 school year have until August 31, 2025, to apply.
