WSVN — A mysterious stranger arrives just in time to save a woman’s life. Tonight, a South Florida woman is on a mission to find her guardian angel. 7’s Rosh Lowe has it in The Lowedown.
Zeanne Lopez: “I couldn’t believe that I was breathing. I was actually taking deep breaths, and I thought to myself, ‘I’m not going to die today.’ I cried thinking that, in that moment, my daughter was thinking that she was going to lose her mom. She was frantic, she was desperate. She screamed to everyone to please help her. You know, there’s nothing like a mom.”
Zeanne Lopez was having dinner with her daughter at Chili’s in Miami Lakes when she started to choke.
Zeanne Lopez: “I was saying a prayer, most definitely. I thought I was going to die.”
She was eating salad when a crouton, she believes, got lodged in her throat. She couldn’t breathe.
Zeanne Lopez: “At that moment, I was thinking to God, ‘I can’t believe I’m going to die in front of my daughter.'”
Zeanne was thinking of her daughter, her son and her life. She was convinced that without help, she would lose everything.
Then, a mysterious angel arrived.
Zeanne Lopez: “He was in the right place, at the right time. I really believe God put him there to save my life.”
Rosh Lowe: “Can you demonstrate on me?”
Zeanne Lopez: “He gave me two thrusts like that, and my food came out, and I was breathing again.”
A Heimlich maneuver in the middle of a crowded Chili’s.
Rosh Lowe: “She is on a lifelong mission to find her guardian angel, the man who literally saved her life.”
Zeanne Lopez: “I just want to give him a hug and tell him that he is more special than he believes, that his family is very, very lucky to have someone like him. No one was stepping up. No one was doing anything. He’s the only one who stepped up to save me, and I want to tell him how special he is. I will never forget him for as long as I live.”
Zeanne Lopez: “I saw him so briefly. I was in a panic.”
Rosh Lowe: “So this is literally like an angel jumped in, rescued you, saved your life and then vanished.”
Zeanne Lopez: “He just disappeared. I don’t know. He’s like a ghost, and I don’t think that he understands the impact of what he’s done.”
But Zeanne understands. She understands the preciousness of every moment.
Zeanne Lopez: “Life is the most beautiful gift that we have. Every day I wake up and I thank God that I am alive. We all take it for granted, but when you are in a moment like that, you think you are going to lose everything.”
Zeanne Lopez: “I’m very close to God, and I know there was no mistake that He was there. He was there that day because He was supposed to save my life.”
And somewhere this angel exists. He didn’t stick around to take credit. He saved a life and vanished. And now Zeanne wants to thank him. Thank him for giving her the greatest gift of all: life.
Zeanne Lopez: “I cried myself to sleep to know that I still have a little hope in humanity, that there’s somebody like him that stepped up to save somebody’s life.”
