JUPITER, Fla. (WSVN) — Police in Palm Beach County are investigating after a fight broke out at a Jupiter voting location, where a woman pepper sprayed a man as he tackled her.
According to the Palm Beach Post, witnesses said Donald Trump volunteer Donna Tatlici was handing out literature at the Jupiter Community Center when voter Thomas Garrecht yelled at her.
The shouting match soon turned physical, and Tatlici pepper-sprayed Garrecht after she said he charged at her.
That’s when witnesses said Garrecht tackled Tatlici to the ground.
“They said they’re probably going to charge me with assault, which is absurd, since she sprayed me first,” Garracht told the Post.
Tatlici said she would press charges. She had a scrape on her arm and a broken wristwatch, but appeared otherwise unharmed. Witnesses said she and other campaign volunteers appeared to be outside the 100-foot boundary that limits political campaigning at voting locations.
Garrecht was not taken into custody. Jupiter Police said they will recommend to the State Attorney’s Office that Garrecht be charged with assault and battery.
