LANTANA, Fla. (WSVN) — Rapper Vanilla Ice is in some hot water after police discovered his possible involvement in a home burglary.

Police in Lantana began investigating a burglary that occurred at some point between December 2014 and this month. Over the course of the investigation, police determined Robert Van Winkle, the rapper’s given name, was behind the incident.

The 90’s rap artist bonded out of jail late Wednesday evening after being charged with grand theft and burglary. His friends tried to shield him from media cameras.

Van Winkle currently hosts a reality show dealing with home repairs and flipping. He is allegedly renovating a different residence near the home in question and, after a search warrant was issued, some of the stolen items, including bicycles and furniture, were found in Van Winkle’s house. They were identified by their owner and returned.

Van Winkle gave a sworn statement to detectives Wednesday. After police gathered additional statements and evidence, he was arrested and charged.

It remains uncertain if this arrest will affect that show’s future. The house in question is currently in the process of foreclosure.
