HIALEAH, Fla. (WSVN) — A community of worship has been left stunned after a vandal damaged a South Florida church.
Police are investigating after surveillance footage showed a man vandalize a local church, and many people in this community are calling it a sinful act.
A man allegedly broke into multiple cars that were parked outside the Rincon De San Lazaro church, along East Fourth Avenue and 12th Street.
Crime scene investigators worked alongside Hialeah police Friday morning after the windows from several vehicles parked in the church’s parking lot were smashed.
Church administrators said that the destruction happened around 3 a.m., according to a church surveillance video. The man could be seen seemingly in a rage, but church goers said they can’t understand why someone would do this. The surveillance footage showed the man angrily throw a rock at a glass door and then attempt to get in. When he didn’t, he stumbled off.
According to police, he hit a van and a car, then destroyed the top of a cement pillar, and then damaged an outdoor A.C. unit before destroying windows at a nearby U.S. Century Bank.
Officials said he is between 35 and 49 years old, between 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall, and about 250 pounds.
