MIAMI (AP) — Tropical Depression Karl is expected to turn to the north and pass near Bermuda on Friday night.
The U.S. National Hurricane Center says the storm’s maximum sustained winds late Thursday are near 45 mph (75 kph). Strengthening is forecast during the next two days, and Karl could become a hurricane Saturday.

As of 11 p.m. EDT Thursday, Karl was centered about 370 miles (595 kilometers) south of Bermuda and moving northwest near 16 mph (26 kph).
Farther east, Tropical Storm Lisa is weakening. The storm’s maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph (75 kph).
Lisa was centered about 820 miles (1,315 kilometers) west-northwest of the Cabo Verde Islands and is moving northwest near 9 mph (15 kph).
