LINCOLNTON, N.C. (AP) — A 1-year-old girl who was injured when the SUV she was riding in was rear-ended during a funeral procession has died.
Jaylah Kassidy Hart died last weekend following the Friday crash in Lincolnton, North Carolina. Police tell WCNC-TV that the SUV driven by Jaylah’s father was slowing down to move onto the shoulder to make way for the procession when his vehicle was hit from behind by a pickup truck.
Police say charges are pending.
WSOC-TV reports the child’s mother says Jaylah was in a car seat at the time of the crash.
Her family tells the station her organs have been donated to three other children.
