FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) — Law enforcement authorities continue to look for a 9-year-old girl who remains missing in southwest Florida.

Officials say Diana Alvares wasn’t in her bed when her mother checked on her early Sunday morning.

In a news release, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office says its deputies and other agencies “remain vigilant in their search” for the girl.

The Lee County school district sent a mass notification on Sunday asking parents to call the sheriff’s office if they have any information about the whereabouts of the girl who attends San Carolos Elementary School.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement issued a missing child alert for the girl on Sunday. It says she has black hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a short-sleeve shirt and shorts.
