(WSVN) - IKEA announced the recall of safety gates and gate extensions, Thursday, due to a fall hazard they pose to children and consumers.
According to the company, consumers should stop using IKEA’s PATRULL, PATRULL FAST and PATRULL KLÄMMA safety gates and safety gate extensions. Customers are advised to return the products to any IKEA store for a full refund. IKEA officials said the gates’ locking mechanism opens unexpectedly.
The company said about 80,000 units have been sold in the U.S., as well as 28,000 in Canada. There have been 55 incident reports that involve these products worldwide and includes 10 injuries that resulted in two concussions, as well as cuts and bruising. Four of the reported incidents in the U.S. resulted in cuts and bruises to children.
