MIAMI (WSVN) - Delta Air Lines officials have released what exactly caused their company’s worldwide electrical outage, which caused thousands of flights to be canceled and delayed, this week.

According to Delta Air Lines, an electrical system failure from a small fire caused a power outage at Delta’s main operations center.

The computer crash led to thousands of canceled and delayed flights, which stranded passengers in South Florida and around the globe.

Delta’s CEO Ed Bastian released a statement after Monday’s meltdown.

“We own it. I own it. I’m personally responsible for this happening, and I’ll personally make sure this doesn’t happen again.”

Delta is still dealing with issues related to the outage. On Wednesday, the airline canceled more than 300 flights.
