Most things in South Florida revolve around the water. Why should your photos be any different? Belkys Nerey joins one photographer taking the plunge to get that perfect picture in tonight’s Style File.
Pictures are the perfect way to capture special moments. Why should they be landlocked?
Michael Forgione and Sabina Materon: “We’re taking the plunge!”
Sabina Materon and Michael Forgione are literally diving into their marriage with underwater engagement photos.
The inspiration for this unique photo shoot works swimmingly with their everyday life.
Sabina Materon: “I love the beach; he loves diving, fishing. We live on the water. It’s just more about us.”
Adam Opris is the creative mind behind this shoot.
Adam Opris: “It’s a little complicated, but that’s part of the fun, is kind of creating the magic and trying to manipulate the light and make everything look almost surreal underwater.”
Like all photo shoots, you have to have the perfect outfit.
Adam Opris: “I have some people that, they dress up to the nines, and they dress up with fancy gowns and full suits, and I have some that are more casual.”
Michael Forgione: “It’s part of the theme. It’s an engagement photo shoot, so you’re gonna be underwater. Why not look nice doing it?”
The underwater photography trend is bubbling up everywhere, for a variety of occasions.
Adam Opris: “I get all sorts of clients. I work with children, I work with a lot of maternity clients. I do engagement shoots and I even do bride and grooms underwater once they finish their wedding and they want to get back in their wedding dress.”
So why get wet to capture those special snapshots?
Sabina Materon: “It’s just different. It’s beautiful! It’s Florida. How could you not?”
Adam Opris: “People are looking to do something completely different. They’re looking to break the norm, do something extraordinary.”
Michael and Sabina admit getting these beautiful shots did take a little work.
Sabina Materon: “It was a little harder than it looks, though, but it was very fun.”
The couple says the photo shoot itself is a unique experience they will cherish forever.
Michael Forgione: “Oh, man! You can’t miss it! It’s just amazing. It’s one of those things that you’re just always going to have that memory.”
Their favorite part?
Michael Forgione: “All the kisses I got! (laughs)”
Adam Opris: “They’re so in love! You can tell that, above and below water. Make these dreams happen underwater.”
