UNDATED (WSVN) — Less than two days before voters in New Hampshire head to the polls to pick their parties’ presidential candidates, Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders retain a commanding lead over their rivals, according to a new tracking poll conducted by 7News and the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
Among the Republicans, Trump is 22 points ahead of his closest competitor, Marco Rubio. Coming in second with 14 percent, it appears the Florida senator’s post-Iowa surge appears to be leveling off.
Texas Sen. Ted Cruz remains right behind Rubio with 13 percent. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, with 10 percent, and Ohio Gov. John Kasich round out the top five.
As for the rest of the pack, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina are tied at 4 percent, while Ben Carson garnered 3 percent.
Tracking results day by day, Trump is up another point since Saturday. Meanwhile, Rubio, Cruz and Bush remain flat, and Kasich slipped 1 percent.
Moving to the Democrats, Sanders added to his lead, just a bit. The Vermont senator has 57 percent support 17 points above the former secretary of state.
The results among the Democratic candidates mark a change in direction after Clinton saw a 16-point swing coming out of Iowa. Both of them, however, have downplayed expectations in New Hampshire.
