WSVN — Setting the right ambiance might be as simple as getting more grown-up furniture. On tonight’s Room for Improvement, our makeover maestro is taking one space from teen turmoil to grown-up glamour.
Martin Amado: “An outdoor space can have many zones. On a previous Room for Improvement, we created a dining area for my client. Now we’re back for the second phase of the makeover, creating a space for seating and entertaining, because these bean bags just won’t cut it.”
Martin Amado: “My design plan is to choose furniture made for the outdoors, and that’s a bit more elegant than these bean bags, so let’s say goodbye.”
Martin Amado: “The last screw is in, and now we have our storage coffee table.”
Martin Amado: “This grouping is called the conversation set, and the scale is smaller, so it’s perfect for this outdoor space.”
Martin Amado: “Now, I’m adding more outdoor cushions just to give it a pop of color and texture.”
Martin Amado: “I love adding ceramic garden stools in an outdoor setting because you can use them for seating or even as a table.”
Martin Amado: “We have the furniture, but something is still missing in this outdoor setting. Can you guess what it is? We need greenery. Let’s go get the plants.”
Martin Amado: “I chose this beautiful black planter because of the classic design that it has.”
Martin Amado: “Loving these solar-powered lanterns for outdoor spaces, because they’re low-maintenance and they add ambiance at night.”
Martin Amado: “So what do you enjoy? Sitting on this like before, or enjoying this beautiful setting? I know my choice. Until next time, I’m Martin Amado for 7News.”
