WSVN — Ever notice how some diets work wonders for some people, while others can’t shed a pound? A local doctor says he has the solution and it’s in your sweat. 7’s Diana Diaz shows us how these sweat strips work.
You exercise, eat well but for some reason, you just can’t shed those extra pounds.
Joshua Kunis: “I was at 210 pounds no matter what I did.”
Joshua Kunis tried several diets but nothing worked.
Yoga instructor Havi Heber is in great shape but couldn’t get the sculpted body she craved.
Havi Heber: “So after I had my third child, I decided I really wanted to see my abs that I worked hours and hours to see.”
Memorial Hospital ER Dr. Boaz Rosenblat says the problem is not every diet works for every person.
Dr. Boaz Rosenblat: “How do you say one size fits all? It might be low carb, it might be low fat, it might be a combination.”
He wanted to help his patients lose weight but knew it had to be customized to each person’s specific needs. So he found the secret in sweat.
Dr. Boaz Rosenblat: “There’s lots of things that come out in your sweat that give physicians a clue as to what’s going on in your body.”
Dr. Rosenblat says your sweat reveals how your body processes food.
Dr. Boaz Rosenblat: “Whether you’re burning fat, or you’re burning sugar or you’re burning muscle, which nobody wants to do.”
And he says that can determine your body type; what you should eat and what you should avoid. So he created a way for people to test their sweat at home.
It’s called Fuelstrip. Here’s how it works. First, work up a sweat.
Dr. Boaz Rosenblat: “Once you’re at that point where you’re feeling the fatigue and you’re sweating, wipe it across your forehead. There’s a little square at the end and it will change to one of three colors, orange, green or yellow.”
He says orange means low carb. Green low fat and yellow is a combination of both.
Each color corresponds to a detailed meal plan on the web site. The doc says knowing your body type will unlock the code to your metabolism.
Dr. Boaz Rosenblat: “Now you know, ‘OK, my body doesn’t do so well with carbs.’ That doesn’t mean you can’t have carbs but to be cautious about it.”
Sarah tested green. She cut out processed sugar and red meat and says the pounds are coming off.
Joshua Kunis: “Watching the numbers go down every day.”
Joshua also changed his diet and likes that the plan is customized.
Joshua Kunis: “Within about 45 days I went from 210 pounds to 176 pounds.”
Havi is yellow. She’s a natural fat burner who can eat healthy fats but should stay away from starches. She likes the science behind the plan and says she’ll never think about sweat the same way again.
Havi Heber: “It changed the way I think about working out and the way I think about diets.”
The doctor also created a fat burning supplement he recommends as part of the meal plan.
