CORAL GABLES, Fla. (WSVN) — A South Florida family is now living in fear after their home was burglarized and robbed while they were on vacation.

The homeowner is still frightened and did not want to show her home on camera.

Surveillance video from June 15 shows several men walking around the Coral Gables home. In one shot, you can see a man walking out with a safe. The homeowner, who wants to keep her name private, believes the crooks entered through a window. “We found one of the front windows of the house smashed, and we saw that burglars had come in, and they stole my safe,” she said. “All kinds of important jewelry: family heirlooms, gifts from my father, from my grandmother that are no longer with us. Things that are irreplaceable.”

She said the burglars got away with the safe, which contained jewelry and other personal items. One of the jewelry items she said was taken is worth almost $175,000. Despite such a price, she said it’s not the monetary loss but the sentimental value that gets her worse. “I have things from my father that he gave me as a little girl that I have always treasured and are gone now, that I can’t replace. It’s not just the monetary value,” she said.

The family now lives in fear and wants the crooks to be caught. “If someone knows who did this, please call in. There is a $1,000 reward. We need to get these people off the streets.”

If you have any information on this burglary, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS or Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
