MIAMI (WSVN) — Cameras rolled as an armed robber stole over $500,000 worth of jewelry from a jewelry shop.

At around 6:30 p.m., Miami Police responded to the scene of an armed robbery at Las Americas, located at 1817 S.W. 8th St. in Little Havana.

Police said the owner, Julio Lima, was closing his store when the robber forced him to empty a trash bin in the back of the business. Miami Police Lt. Freddie Cruz said, "This individual brandishes a weapon, forces the owner to empty out some garbage, gets a big garbage bin and immediately forces the owner to start putting a bunch of jewelry and watches inside that bin. After that, he takes the owner to the rear of the store at gunpoint, handcuffs him and begins to demand more money and merchandise."

Miami Police said the owner was able to free himself and was not injured.

The man ran out with a green duffel bag, which police believe contained the stolen merchandise. He is described as a white Hispanic male, between 5 feet and 8 inches and 5 feet and 10 inches tall.

He was wearing dark clothing and a fisherman’s hat.
