KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. (WSVN) — Sea turtles who were rescued earlier this year have been released back into the wild in South Florida.
On Monday, seven loggerhead sea turtles and one green sea turtle were released from Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park in Key Biscayne. The sea turtles were found at several different locations and taken to Miami Seaquarium for treatment earlier this year.
"We see them come in, we see how bad off they are," said Jessica Schiffhauer, the animal care supervisor. "We’re able to take care of them and nurse them back to health, and they get to go home. It’s the best feeling in the world."
The sea turtles were tagged and microchipped so the Seaquarium can locate them if they are injured or lay eggs.
