WSVN — When you went to sleep Raul Munera would go to work driving his yellow cab on the overnight shift.Gerardo Munera: "And would love to drive, drive and would always have jobs that had to do with driving."But on May 9th 2009, Raul was driven in his own cab to a horrible death. Detective Luis Gonzalez: "When the officers responded there was in fact a burning vehicle. Metro Dade fire arrived and put out the fire and at that time is when the officers realized there was a body inside the vehicle."The body belonged to Raul. He had been working near the airport when someone decided to murder him.Detective Luis Gonzalez: "He was shot and then set in the back seat and burnt down. And it's not very often that we see something like that."The cab was found on fire in this empty lot in Miami Gardens. Rauls body was left to burn detectives were left to  knock on another family members door.Gerardo Munera "And it was disastrous for me. It was a very sad moment. I wanted to see him and they told me I could not because they had burned the car and he was inside."Why someone would murder Raul makes no sense to his family.Gerardo Munera: "I have asked myself a million times and I don't understand. I don't understand."And it makes no sense to detective Luis Gonzalez who has dug into Rauls life.Detective Luis Gonzalez: "It could have been a robbery there is a possibility of that. We would like to get as much information as we can from the public. Anybody that would know him and maybe give us an idea of any other dealings that he might have had."Patrick Fraser: "Raul was married and had a child. They didn't want to be on camera. Maybe they are afraid, but Raul's brother is not, not worried about upsetting a killer just upset that a good man was murdered and someone is getting away with it.""Gerardo Munera: Raul never caused harm no no one. He was never violent Raul was never violent with anyone. He was the opposite of violent."Sometimes when Gerarado thinks of his brother, he smiles.Gerardo Munera: "He liked to sing and I would tell him that I never knew of someone that liked to sing so much and could not sing."Sometimes when he thinks about Raul, he cries.Gerardo Munera: "Was always loyal good brother and head of household and he loved his daughter."Detective Gonzalez thinks about Raul as well how he went from picking up passengers near the airport in the early morning to a burning car in miami gardens.Detective Luis Gonzalez: "Anything that anybody can get us if anybody remembers I understand it's been quite a while back since 2009, but to see a taxi cab parked in that empty area, burning that might have caught somebody's attention."Raul is gone the last person he spoke to was his mother, telling her he was coming to visit her on mothers day now Gerardo is hoping someone will speak out about his brother.Detective Luis Gonzalez: "I would tell the person that if you know something to say it in no way did he deserve a death like the one he received."He didn't deserve to die and certainly didn't deserve a death like this.
