MIAMI (WSVN) - Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez agreed Wednesday to debate challenger Raquel Regalado three times before Election Day in November.

In a press release, Gimenez announced he would debate Regalado twice in English and once in Spanish:

  • – Sunday, Oct. 9, on CBS 4’s “Facing South Florida”
  • – Sunday, Oct. 16, on Univision 23’s Al Punto Florida
  • – Thursday, Oct. 20, on WMBM radio station

Gimenez declined to take part in a debate hosted by the League of Women voters on Sept. 28. He participated in one debate with Regalado before the primary election in August.

Gimenez received 48 percent of the vote during the primary, failing to reach the 50 percent threshold for an outright win. Regalado received 32 percent.
