SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Police in Syracuse are searching a 160-acre cemetery for suspects believed to be involved in a shooting that left one man dead and another man injured.
The Post-Standard of Syracuse reports officers responded to Hope Avenue Wednesday night after receiving a call of shots fired.
When officers arrived at the scene they heard gunshots coming from a vehicle.
Police say the suspects fired at the officers before ditching their vehicle and fleeing into Oakwood Cemetery. A helicopter and K-9 units were then brought in to search the rugged terrain.
Nearby Syracuse University was briefly put on lockdown as a precaution. Normal activities have resumed.
Both shooting victims were found outside a house. One was pronounced dead. The other is expected to survive.
