MIAMI (WSVN) — Miami-Dade Police have arrested two teens for allegedly stealing a police cruiser, which was later found at the bottom of a lake.
Emilio Galban and Giovanni Reyes, both 16, were arrested Thursday morning.
A Miami-Dade Police officer, who lives in the area of Southwest 276th Street and 167th Avenue, awoke for work on April 25 to find an empty driveway, at around 8:30 am.
According to officials, the officer’s vehicle contained a helmet and bulletproof vest that were stolen.
The 2008 Ford Crown Victoria was later found submerged in a canal, located near 192nd Avenue and Southwest 336th Street, the day after the officer noticed it was gone.
