POMPANO BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) — A plane with two to three people on board crashed into a residential neighborhood in Pompano Beach, Monday afternoon.

According to Pompano Beach Fire Rescue, the plane crash, at around 3 p.m., caused one home to catch fire and caused severe damage to two other backyards. The aircraft appeared to have crashed into the corner of a roof of a home, and then crashed near the pool of another home, just west of the Intracoastal Waterway, on 912 Harbor Drive. The crash happened less than a mile from the Pompano Beach Airpark.

At least three victims are being transported via Pompano Beach Fire Rescue vehicles to a helicopter where they will be airlifted to a hospital. It is unclear whether the victims transported to the hospital were on board the plane or if some of those hurt were on the ground at the time of the crash.

The fire at one of the homes has since been put out by fire rescue. However, smoke continued to escape the home from all sides as of 3:30 p.m. It is unclear whether homeowners were at home at the time of the crash.

Firefighters are assessing the damage of the homes.
