WSVN — Join makeover maestro Martin Amado as he gives us some suggestions for the ideal dining room centerpiece.

Martin Amado: "Hi, and thanks for joining me in our Online Extra. One of the questions that I get asked the most when decorating a dining room is, what centerpiece can I use on the dining table? So, today I have a couple of options."

Martin Amado: "In a breakfast nook like this one where the setting isn’t too formal, I love the idea of using a house plant, or an orchid specifically, to help bring the outside in."

Martin Amado: "And, a second option, instead of using a plant, is to use a beautiful hurricane candle holder like this one. Of course, you can buy these already done at any department store, but I also like to embellish the bottom by adding some filler, such as decorative rocks that look like diamonds or even these pieces of broken glass."

Martin Amado: "I’m using a combination of both because I like the different textures."

Martin Amado: "You can buy these fillers at any arts and crafts store."

Martin Amado: "Place the candle in the center, and then you can add the other filler around the base."

Martin Amado: "On a round table like this one, of course, one is enough, but if you have a longer rectangular table in a more formal setting, like a dining room, you want to use two across the length of the table."

Martin Amado: "Love it! Simple and effective. I’ll catch you with more tips on Room for Improvement."
