MIAMI (WSVN) — Members of a South Florida community received a high honor Wednesday night.
Miami-Dade Schools Superintendent Alberto Carvalho named several philanthropists, to what he calls his "Angel Patrol." They are individuals recognized for their efforts in stepping forward to help needy families in the district.
These honorees do everything from paying for the funerals of young victims who’ve died in gun violence, to providing funding and time for after school programs.
"We’re blessed with the fact that we have true angels amongst ourselves," said Carvalho, "who understand what the need and provide solutions for the neediest, most fragile and often invisible in our community."
"I think the work that we do, we try to help all the community and people who have gone through many tragedies throughout the years," said Mark Revitz, and Angel Patrol recipient.
A total of 10 families were honored.
