BERWYN HEIGHTS, Md. (AP) — Transportation and emergency officials say no one was hurt after a pedestrian bridge fell onto commuter rail tracks in Maryland, just outside of Washington.
State transportation officials said some commuter rail service was halted just before the Wednesday afternoon rush hour after the bridge crashed onto the tracks in Berwyn Heights.
Metro officials say part of the concrete bridge fell onto the tracks after it was struck by the boom of a rail crane.
The collapse occurred between the College Park and Greenbelt Metro stations.
The Maryland Department of Transportation said that all Camden Line service, which runs between Washington and Baltimore, was suspended. Service was also suspended on Washington’s Metro subway between Greenbelt and College Park in Maryland.
