The Oscars are this Sunday and the competition is stiff. Who will walk away with that little bald golden boy? Deco’s broadcast film critic (that’s actually a real title) Shireen Sandoval has some predictions.

Lynn and Louis 2013 was a great year for movies. Matter of fact, it’s the best it’s been in a long time. Which makes the 86th Academy Awards a show worth watching. Not just waiting for it to be over. Yawn.

The glitz and glamour of the 86th Academy Awards is just a few days away, and with Ellen Degeneres as the hostess with the mostess it’s sure to be a fun fete’.

Stars like Julia Roberts and Brad Pitt are up for some of the nights biggest awards. Can you say star power?

“American Hustle” and “Gravity” lead the pack with 10 nominations each. I bet “Gravity” comes out on top with the most amount of Oscars. Including best director for Alfonso Cuaron, but maybe not best picture.

“12 years a Slave,” “Philomena,” “Captain Phillips,” “Dallas Buyers Club,” “Her,” “Nebraska” and the “Wolf of Wall Street” are in one of the tightest best picture races in Oscar history.

My fave movie of 2013 was “Her,” but my prediction to win is “12 years a Slave.” With that said, there is a strong possibility that “Gravity” could win best picture. It would be a sci-fi first.

Golden Globe winner Cate Blanchett is a shoein to snag the best actress award for “Blue Jasmine.” She’s up against Sandra Bullock, Amy Admas, Judi Dench and Meryl Streep who’s been nominated a record 18 times.

Matthew McConaughey with his first Oscar nomination will win best actor for his role in “Dallas Buyers Club.” He’s up against Christian Bale, Bruce Dern, Lenardo Dicaprio and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

For best supporting actor my money is on Jared Leto. And for best supporting actress Lupita Nyong’o

Good luck and congrats to all the nominees.

Also a big deal this year at the Oscars is the music: Idina Menzel, Pharrelll, U2 and Karen O are all set to perform the best original song nominees making Oscar night just as much about music as it is about the movies. Of course, don’t miss Deco Drive on Monday for a full Oscar recap. Wardrobe, winners, losers and parties.
