MIAMI (WSVN) — The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services has issued a fraud alert for Florida residents and visitors.

According to the department, they have received several complaints regarding a fraudulent Florida vacation package.

Potential planners are being advised to verify travel companies are registered with the department before booking a trip.

Customers should also refrain from giving out credit card or checking account information over the phone. 

Lastly, officials are urging the public to read contracts thoroughly before signing. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
