DAVIE, Fla. (WSVN) — A South Florida university has been approved to build a hospital on campus.

Officials gave the OK for the construction of a new hospital at Nova Southeastern University in Davie.

The first of its kind facility will combine research, academics and patient care.

It will be privately owned by Health Care Administration of East Florida and won’t require public funding for construction.

The new hospital will replace Plantation General once it’s built.
