OAKLAND PARK, Fla. (WSVN) — A gas station clerk was held at gunpoint by a robber who left with nothing, Wednesday morning.

Surveillance video captured the terrifying moments the Oakland Park Mobil clerk, Veli Alci, came face-to-face with the armed man’s gun.

Alci said he is former Turkish military, so he does not scare easily. Therefore, when the armed man walked into the shop, he remained calm and unafraid.

The footage shows the man walking in with a blue hoodie and immediately demanding that the clerk give him cash. Once the man realized he was on camera, he put on sunglasses to unsuccessfully hide his face. Then, he told the clerk to put the money in the bag. "He points at my face with a gun and says, ‘Give me money, give me money!’" After I looked at him I go, ‘What money? I have no money,’" said Alci.

As the clerk tried to close the glass partition, the crook tried to reach over and open the register himself. Once the man did that, the clerk ran into a back room and called police.

When the attempted robber realized he couldn’t open the register, he darted away. "He hold me through here, and I [tell him], ‘OK, we don’t close window. Stay there. I’ll bring the money.’ I open this door, I go to the back office, and I called police."

Since the robber seemed nervous, Alci knew he wasn’t going to shoot him. "I don’t give a [expletive]. I’m not scared. I’m here all the time. If he wants it, come get it now."
