CONCORD, NC. (WSVN) — A man in Concord, North Carolina has been arrested for failing to return a VHS tape he rented 14 years ago.
James Meyers would have never believed his 2002 rental of the classic film, "Freddy Got Fingered," would end up with him in police custody. Even though the rental store, J&J Video, had been closed for multiple years, the warrant for his arrest was active and had been filed by the store on Feb. 28, 2002.
The warrant showed that Meyers was charged with failure to return rental property, a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $200.
Meyers, a drum and bass musician, said he had never been arrested before, and said the ordeal was very humiliating.
