CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. (WSVN) — Police have arrested a man accused of attempting to meet up with a minor at a local mall to allegedly have sex with him.
Back in March, 34-year-old Joseph Gearhart allegedly met online someone who he thought was a young boy.
Police said, after months of chatting online, the two arranged to meet at the Broward Mall in Plantation, Wednesday.
When the man arrived, he was surprised to find out the "boy" he was talking to was actually an undercover member of the South Florida Internet Crimes Against Children task force.
Gearhart was arrested and charged with traveling to meet up with a child after luring him/her using a computer, attempted lewd and lascivious act on a minor and using a communications device during a felony.
He is being held on $22,000 bond.
