DANIA BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) — Authorities have arrested a man who, they said, stole from a Dania Beach church three times in one week.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, volunteers at the St. Matrona of Moscow Church caught 57-year-old Carl Deblasio stealing $20 from a donation basket, April 13. He was confronted by the parishioner but fled the scene.

Four days later, investigators said, Deblasio smashed an exterior glass door to gain entry into the church, located at 113 South Federal Highway. Once inside, authorities said, he ransacked the church and took off with $500 he found in the church’s office.

Deblasio allegedly broke into the house of worship a third time on Wednesday and once again stole several hundred dollars in parishioner donations. He was arrested later that evening.

Deblasio is being held without bond.
